AREHO アレホ is my name, written the way Japan would say it. Still a work in progress, but plenty of companies ship products in beta.
I'm a software engineer in Jacksonville, Florida. My path didn't start in a CS lecture. It started in mechatronics, where software is the thing that makes metal move. That origin left me with a habit I've kept: I care less about what a technology is said to be and more about what you actually build with it.
These days I build for what's needed: a backend service, a REST API, a database that needs configuring, some front end, a cloud deployment. My scope covers a lot. You may have heard "a mile wide and an inch deep", but mine is more like a mile wide with a few petrol-deep drills, and tunnels connecting everything I know. I like to code small solutions that contribute to the big picture.
Picked a challenge for a living. Otherwise it wouldn't be fun.
Linear algebra, physics, differential and integral calculus, automation principles. The math and systems thinking under everything I do now.
Where code turned into a canvas ready to be filled.
Java is where my heart is. People say Java is secure, robust, enterprise-grade. Sure. But a language is nothing until you make it something. That's the part I'm here for.
Around it: SQL wherever data lives (MySQL, Postgres, and friends). JavaScript with Angular, React, and Node. Python when it's the right tool. And if a task needs something I don't know yet, that's not a wall. That's the next thing I know.
I work on Linux, and my editor is Neovim. Choosing an editor is like choosing a car: every maker has its pros, its special features. Neovim isn't a car, though. It's a spaceship steered with a magic wand: it builds whatever you want, however you want it.
Human languages too: English, Spanish, and currently learning Japanese. Programming languages are easy: the compiler makes the machine do exactly what I ask. Humans need a bit more syntax, and each one runs their own.
This site. A single HTML file served from a private S3 bucket behind CloudFront with ACM TLS, deployed on push by a GitHub Actions workflow using OIDC, no stored keys. One file, no framework, nothing to patch.
